Sons are a heritage from the Lord, Children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. Psalms 127:3-5

How it works

The only domestic adoptions our agency does is through the state of Oregon. So our child (or children) will be coming from the Oregon Foster Care system. The way it works is we view the bulletins that are released weekly from the state of Oregon of legally free children who fall within the boundaries of our homestudy. If we see a child who we believe would fit nicely in our family we let our agency know and they send our homestudy to the child's social worker, he or she will look through the homestudies in the order they are recieved until 3 acceptable families are found (so if there are lots of people who get their homestudy in before us 3 families may be found before ours is even looked at). Most of the time we will not hear anything, we just have to assume after about a month or so that we were not chosen. If we are chosen we will recieve more information about the child. After reviewing the information we can choose whether or not we want to continue. If we decide to our information goes to comittee. This comittee will review the homestudies of the 3 families and talk with the families representation, then will choose the family that they believe is the best fit for the child. We have no idea how long this process will take, but we know that it will happen in God's timing. It will be an exciting and difficult journey. One we feel so blessed to take.
